The Procedure

The entire procedure from beginning to end, including preparation takes about an hour and a half  however the teeth whitening process itself is normally complete within 60 minutes.

Preparation and Post Teeth Whitening Recommendations

1. Please ensure you are flossing your teeth daily.
2. Brush your teeth if possible before your appointment.
3. Eat before your appointment.
4. Your teeth are especially vulnerable to staining post treatment, therefore it is advisable not to smoke, eat or drink dark foods or beverages (coffee, tea, red wine, cola and dark meat as well as fruit and vegetables) for 48 hours after the procedure has taken place. Avoid excessively hot or cold food and drinks for the same period too.

Firstly, upon arrival, we settle down, explain the procedure fully, and then assemble the equipment.

When complete, we get you to sit in a comfy chair, using a set of latex gloves for hygene reasons we place a mouth guard over your lips and insert a cotton filter just below the gum line so we can get a clear view of your teeth.

We will then give you a pair of what looks like sun glasses to wear, these are special glasses which are used to shield your eyes from the cool blue LED light that we use which reacts with the gel that whitens your teeth

We will at this point begin applying the solution onto your teeth with a special applicator, rather like a tiny paint brush, the gel will have already been pre-prepared in order to save time, and once complete, we bring the cool LED light machine, which is on wheels, up to your teeth and place it about 3 inches away, aimed away from your eyes, directly onto your teeth. 

We turn on the light and this begins its work to activate the whitening  gel,  we then wipe off the old gel, re-apply a fresh coating and place the light once more onto your teeth, up to a maximum of three times. The whole process  takes only one hour.  If you wish, you are welcome to have a little break of a couple of minutes between each application, most people however prefer to complete the process as described, but the choice is entirely yours.
